Angel wings!

We had newborn pictures taken of Katelyn when she was two just weeks old and they turned out beautifully!! Our photographer was amazing and captured some really cute expressions on Katelyn's face. I just love the little angel wings! Here are a few of our favorites!

Oh, I dropped Katelyn off at daycare again this morning and it was much easier than yesterday...no tears today!

We Survived!

So, I managed not to call and check up on her the entire morning, but I did pick her up at precisely 1:00...AND...she was fine! 100% completely F-I-N-E, fine! There she was all bundled up in her little swaddle sleeping like a champ. She had just eaten and was passed out drunk on breast milk. All five of the babies in her room were pacified and calm and happy. I'm not sure what I was expecting to find when I picked her up but it was a relief to see and hear a room full of peaceful babies! YAY! Maybe, just maybe, tomorrow will be a little easier.

Together again!

They say it gets easier...

Today was Katelyn's first "practice" day at daycare. I don't start work until next Monday but our daycare suggests new moms have a practice week to ease into the new daycare lifestyle. I have been dreading this for weeks now and have tried to think of every little scenario I can think of to postpone the inevitable...but here I am two hours and thirty two minutes after I dropped off our little precious one and I'm still teary eyed.

All dressed for daycare

I got her bag ready last night: diapers, change of clothes, socks, Desitin, pacifier, a swaddle for nap time, and I prepared her bottles from frozen breast milk. I tried to spend extra quality-kissy-huggy time with her for the past few days to gear up for the dreaded day, but I don't think there is such a thing as gearing up for leaving your child at daycare. It just plain sucks!! There, I said it!

Katelyn's daycare pack

Freezer full of breast milk for daycare!

Our drive to daycare was pretty tough. Me and Katelyn's song came on the radio, Coldplay's Viva la Vida, so of course the waterworks started immdeiately. I really debated driving right past the daycare but somehow my car ended up in the parking lot. I cried the whole way through the parking lot and into the building where I was met by other mother's who got teary-eyed just looking at me. They told me it would get easier...

Katelyn all strapped in ready to go...

But she didn't want to go...

And I didn't't want her to go...

I'm forcing myself to wait until 12:30 - 1:00 to pick her up...I'll let you know if I last that long!!

Finally!

After 5 weeks of hanging on strong, Katelyn's umbilical cord finally fell off last night!! This darn cord was the ONE thing Tim and I were dreading all throughout the pregnancy because it just seemed so gross and ugly. It was ugly but it wasn't near as bad to take care of as we thought it would be...but 5 weeks, that's just stubborn?! The hospital says that if you rub alcohol on it after each diaper change it should fall off in 7-10 days. Our pediatrician even tried to help things along by putting silver nitrate on it, twice!!! Well, after alcoholing the heck out of it 8-10 times a day for the past 5 weeks, it finally fell off with a little help from Tim! We walked that little sucker over to the toilet and flushed it goodbye forever!!! YAY! Check out her cute little inny!

In other news, Katelyn seems to be holding her head up a lot better these days!! Check her out!

We also read that babies start discovering their hands around this time and that we should hold her hands in front of her eyes so she can see and feel them at the same time. That will be really cool when she knows those things flailing around her are actually attached to her body! :)

Here are just a couple more pictures of Katelyn doing her normal everyday activities:

Happy one month!!

Today Katelyn is officially one month old!!! Holy cow, it's hard to believe we've been a family for that long!! We've been getting the hang of this parenting thing, slowly but surely! Just in the past week it feels like we've been settling into a routine. She's still eating every 2-3 hours with a few 4 and 5 hours stretches here and there. It'll be nice when those 4 and 5 hours stretches become the norm!! We miss our sleep ;)

We've taken some pics here at the house too but they are kind of repetitive...I mean she doesn't do much besides sleep, eat, mess her diaper and hang out on her "tummy time" mat...so there aren't very many "action" shots! But here's what she's been up to lately:

She likes to suck on her arm when she does tummy time...in fact she gave herself a hickey on her arm from sucking so hard!!

I see a DIMPLE...do you???

Precious little one!

Here she is passed out on one of her many napping spots :)

BIG yawn!

355 pink balloons!

Tim took a week off of work when Katelyn was born and he was really dreading leaving us at home when it was time to return to the daily grind...but when he got back to his office, this is what he found!...

His buddies at work filled his office with 355 balloons...Tim couldn't even get his door open! I think all this fuss and attention made going back to work a little more bearable! :)
